Who We Are
Concerned Citizens for Democracy (CCFD) is a good government nonprofit education and advocacy group dedicated to ending partisan gerrymandering. We are located in suburban Philadelphia in Montgomery County and are composed of lawyers, engineers, economists, geographers, geographic information systems (GIS) experts, and other activists. Founded in 2017 as a Pennsylvania nonprofit association, CCFD proudly received its IRS 501(c)(3) status in March 2020.
CCFD’S MISSION AND VISION
Our mission is to end partisan redistricting (“gerrymandering”) and to promote fairly drawn electoral districts through research and development of rigorously applied neutral design criteria that legislatures and courts understand and can enforce.
Since its inception, CCFD has channeled its energy and resources towards correcting the undemocratic results of partisan gerrymandering, no matter the partisan tilt. Our methodology provides a comprehensive and enduring solution to the manipulation of electoral lines for any political party gain.
WHO FUNDS CCFD?
Our primary source of funding comes from small-donor contributions online and through personal appeals and relationships. CCFD receives no contributions from political action committees (PACs), parties, candidates, or other partisan sources.
Going forward in 2021 and into 2022, our budgetary needs are expanded to include the writing, printing and filing costs of amicus briefs, acquisition of up-to-date mapping technologies, video production, intern honoraria, and marketing and administrative costs.
Outreach to our supporters is ongoing and is being expanded to foundations with aligned democracy and voting rights missions.
